Mayfield Highlight #5: Linda Clare Colling

Linda Clare Colling was a Mayfield Guidance Counselor from September 1995 to June 2000 aside from being a Guidance Counselor, she also lent her talents as a Volleyball Coach. When we reached out to her, here's what she had to say about her past experience and what she's up to now!:

"When I was at Mayfield, I was a guidance counselor by day and a volleyball coach after the school bell rang for the day. After a long career teaching Physical Education and Society Challenge and Change at Gordon Graydon S.S. and then Mayfield, I retired."

"So what am I doing now?? I no longer coach volleyball but switched to become an Ontario Volleyball Referee. I referee secondary and elementary volleyball for the Halton Region and some OVA tournaments. Before I became a guidance counselor, I taught Physical Education for many years. So, in retirement, I continue to be very physically active. I take classes at the Burlington Senior Centre several days a week. I take Pilates on the Ball, Pilates Intermediate, Bridge Lessons and workshops. Keeping physically and mentally active is very important to me as I had a knee replacement after I retired and need to keep myself in good physical shape so that I don’t fall. Not being able to run, due to my knee, required that I think about alternate ways to stay in shape"
